For me it was a Blue 2001? Chrysler Town and Country LXi that my Grandpa bought and I remember going with them to the dealership to pick it up. It was replacing a 1998? green Town and Country LXi. I think this explains why I have a soft spot for Chrysler minivans. I actually had an imaginary friend 'Vanny"
Vanny meet Oppo...Oppo meet Vanny.
Is anybody else as irrational as me?

Buying? Olds Alero coupe. Dark blue with gold pinstripe. It replaced a beautiful black and gold 96 Bonniville that was wrecked.

I remember when my dad bought my mom a brand-new '95 Civic. It was probably late-1995 since they got a great deal on it (remember when they didn't cost over 10k$?) because the face-lifted '96 was on its way. White, almost-base model except it had slightly upgraded hub caps over the bare steelies, automatic, with a dealership-installed gold pinstripe down the side. Also remember they bought a '01 CR-V new, paperwork took forever, ugh.

My uncle bought a 1995 Blue Honda Civic when I was 4 years old.
It's an awesome car.

I remember waiting to be picked up from school and not recognizing the car my father came out of. He picked it from the dealership and came directly to the school to surprise me.
A burgundy Citroen Evasion Turbo in manual flavor.

Oh boy.
*lifts left cheek, farts a huge cloud of rust*
A 1970 Bonneville Catalina wagon - 400 cubic inch two barrel engine, light metallic green, off-white vinyl roof, saddle/tan vinyl interior. Power windows, A/C, no cruise as that was a crazy luxury at the time. Spent a lot of time in that car riding shotgun from New Jersey to relatives in NC...
I don't remember them buying the previous car, a '67 Chrysler 300 sedan though I remember the car. I also remember the car before that, a white Chevy wagon...all I remember is my dad backing into a telephone pole with it. And me screaming bloody murder scared to death by it.

It was probably one of the multitude of Ford pickups that my dad bought but those all run together in my head. The one I distinctly remember is the '72 Gran Torino that later became my first car.

This:
Chevrolet Omega Suprema, basically a station wagon version of the Opel Omega, which was sold in Brazil as a Chevrolet. Damn thing was huge, RWD and had a straight 6 up front, so that's a bunch of Jalop points right there :p

Can't remember specifically because we bought a few cars in the span of a couple years when I was really young, but either a 1990 Chevy Suburban, an 80s Ford Econoline conversion camper van (shag carpet!), or my dads 71 F100 work truck.

Shortly after we moved to Colorado, my parents decided that they needed a second car (the first car was a '72 Malibu coupe). My dad bought a white '73 VW Beetle. This was way back in 1980, by the way. We ended up taking it on a road trip back to Michigan the next year. I was only 5-6 years old at the time, but I don't remember anything bad about that trip. It was comfortable enough, and it never broke down. He kept it after they divorced, and had it until about '98 or so. I never got a chance to drive it, though.

'87 Caprice Classic Brougham, used in 1988. It had been my grandmother's car, but since my grandfather had just died, she didn't need two cars anymore. So, she kept his Acura Legend and my parents bought the Caprice off of her. Ours was light blue with a blue velour interior.

one of my earliest memories is dad turning up in an ex-army VW Kombi
like this.. but in much rougher shape and no markings. It had a bullbar too. I think Dad bought it cause they finally needed two cars when Mum went back to work when I was about 5 or 6.
There were holes in it that were suspiciously .303 sized. and it was rusty but super cool, Dad overhauled the engine (higher comp, headers etc) and changed the final drive ratio so it had better legs on the highway. He still tells stories of how cars would move over to overtake him on a hill and then sheepishly move back in behind him when he didn't slow down. It wasn't fast, just adequate.
One day it was gone and a Subaru Brumby was in it's place. Light brown with a bullbar and a white canopy.
But the first car I remember them shopping for was a bit later, when they sold the old family Liteace for an ex-demo Maroon Tarago GLi. I can remember being in all the different show rooms while they were looking for the new car, they looked at Chrysler Voyagers and Honda Odyssey's but never got a test drive.

The first I remember was a Brand New Silver 2003 Honda Pilot EX-L. It was identical to this one
It replaced this lemon
A 1999 Dodge Durango, which left my mom and my 6 year old self stranded on many occasions. This thing was so terrible that the Dodge dealer told my parents that they did not want it back when the lease was up. An 18 wheeler car carrier came and picked it up to dump it at the Chrysler auction.

Used 1987 Mercedes Benz 190E purchased from the local papers in 1994/1995. It lasted ~10 years before developing stalling issues. The car was sold to my cousin's employee (~$1200) who swapped in a new engine and brought it home to Guatemala where it now lives.
If you ever see a 190E with a slightly discolored driver's door, beige MB-TEX interior, and a sunroof switch that fell into the dash, that's probably the one.

1999 GMC Safari, in dark green. I hated it the minute I saw it, I hated all the road trips we took in it, I hated everytime I had to get dropped off somewhere in it, I hated being seen in it, I hated how many fuel pumps it ate, I hated everything about it. Every day they owned it I hoped it would spontaneously combust.

When I was born in 1982, my mom was driving a '79 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme, and my dad had an '80 Datsun 200SX.
The first car I remember them buying was when my dad got an '85 Toyota Supra P-type. 3 year-old me loved that car.
His had the 2-tone blue/silver paint job like this (but this car is an L-type, narrower wheels, no fender flares).

I started noticing at about seven years old when the cars started showing up. I remember earlier cars, but not when they came home.
The first cars I remembered showing up were:
E-Type
Mazda Rotary Wagon.
One day we had the VW squareback, and the next day the Mazda,
Once day we had the C2 Corvette, the next day the Jag.

Well I have answered similar questions on here before. The first vehicle I can remember my father bringing home is similar to this Volvo LV 192 D. My sister and brother rode with me in it down the road to meet the bus at the main public road to get to school.

My dad's 2004 Silverado.
I was 6 years old. My dad just woke up that morning and said we were going to look at a cars later that day to replace his Tahoe. It was January, and there was ice on the parking lot. I slipped and busted my head on the bumper of a red Tahoe. A test drive, negotiations, and many "NO BOB"s from my mom, it was ours.

I fondly remember, the day my dad went to the Mazda dealer and bought a second hand '94 Mazda MX-6 LS. It was identical to this one:
It was in the mid-to late 90's, and my mom had the second biggest POS car we've ever owned. Ever since, I've been fond of these cars.

My mom had a '74 Cutlass Supreme 2-door when I was born in 1975. In 1980, she bought my cousin's 1977 Cutlass Supreme Brougham 2-door. In October 1985, I remember going with her and my step-grandpa (her step-dad, who was paying for the car as a gift) to buy a 1986 Cutlass Supreme. We went to the largest Olds dealer in metro Atlanta and they had at least 100 in stock. But she couldn't find exactly what she wanted, but 1986 Cutlass (Salon) 442 really caught her eye. The only thing that kept her from getting it was because the person who configured it was an idiot! The only options it had were T-tops and A/C- no power windows/locks, no cruise control, no cassette player.
Instead, she ordered a Cutlass Supreme 2-door (base) in the same color (Medium Gray Metallic) as the 442. It had the optional Rallye Wheels with black insets trimmed in chrome (similar to the 442) and White Letter Tires. It had the 307 V8 under the hood and cruise, power windows/locks and AM/FM/Cassette. The massive rectangular strip speedometer was thankfully replaced with the optional Rallye Gauge Package. But she went went with a split bench seat and column shifter instead of the 442's buckets and console shifter. Worst of all, the interior was "Dark Red" velour instead of the much mroe tasteful Gray interior.
But it was an experience watching her go thru the order sheet and spec out the exact car she wanted. It arrived at the dealership just under 7-weeks from the day it was ordered. I remember going with her to get it and how excited she was!

Mitsubishi Cosmos, 1990, when I was five years old.
I remember being upset that I thought that my parents were lying. They were concerned about the car potentially not fitting in the car port, which they said that they "recently built". I remembered that it was the previous summer, which when you are five definitely doesn't qualify as "recently".
My parents were looking for a car suitable for a family of five driving from Sweden to Italy every summer. The Cosmos was perfect, having rotatable seats in the middle row and a foldable table that could be set up for those autobahn coffee breaks. My mother, however, catched her first glimpse of the Miata at the dealer (this was the first year the Miata was imported into Sweden). She desperately wanted one, and my sensible dad pointed out that it didn't really fit our needs. Eight years later, she divorced my dad and bought a 1990 Miata, that was finally passed down to me a couple of months ago! The first thing I did? Drove it from Sweden to Italy together with my girlfriend. With my dad following us in his sensible minivan should anything go awry...
I still kind of want a Cosmos, though.

An ozone blue (bleu 468 ozone) Renault 4 GTL. No idea what year it was, I'd say something like... 1986-88-ish.
Below is the actual colour, a lovely kinda-metallic blue. Hard to find a full color pic.
After dad totalled it, we got
another one, same colour.
The above car does say 4x4 and while I don't think it is, a version did exist and competed in Paris-Dakar 1980.
Ours had a 1.1 engine, top of the line. 34 horses to the ground through 4 manual gears for a 600kg car. Not too shabby, actually. :)
Also, interior. The gear lever could turn you into a shish-kebab in an accident:
...because look where it goes (yes, that long chromey bit):
Anyway, I loved the silly French unequally wheelbased thing. Body roll for days, miles of smiles. :)

Well I came home after I was born in a black, 1990 Volvo Special Delivery (how fitting...) 740 sedan and my dad bought a 1989 Volvo 740 Turbo wagon (manual!) when I was three or four. Our first and only new car so far is our 2005 Honda Odyssey EX-L which we still have, from December '04. I also remember riding in my grandma's friend's lap as my grandma test drove a Camry, Accord, and Maxima back when I was three or four. She chose the Maxima (probably best of the three, considering it was 2002)...

My parents mostly had old beaters in the 80's and 90's. On May 11th, 2001, my dad bought a Cavalier Z24. I remember because he wanted such a specific option list, the dealer didn't have one on the lot, so someone had to drive it down from Quebec City.
I vividly remember leaving the dealership that first time after he bought the car. Since then, it has been his trusty DD. When he hits 300,000 kilometers this winter, he's promised to hand the car down to me and buy himself a Cruze - yeah he's a GM lifer.
I know it's just a Cavalier, but to me it's part of the family. I passed my driver's test on it. I took it on a crazy roadtrip from Montreal to Edmonton and back. And I'm never going to let it go. Ever.

Mine was also a minivan, a 93 or 94 Ford Aerostar. I can't remember if it was new or used but I do remember that it had radio controls in the back seat and I thought that was the coolest thing ever. Many good trips were had in that car, and I'm not really surprised that I still see examples on the road today.

First one I remember being bought was a 1986 Plymouth Horizon in black.
First one I was along with when it was bought was "The Elephant", my grandparents' 1999 Chrysler Town and Country Limited.
